Gadgets to Bring Along on Your Next Camping Trip

Posted by on in Sean Homes 101

Summer is a wonderful time of year here in Barrie – especially if you’re into camping. Whether solo, with friends or with the family, there’s just nothing that beats sleeping under the stars by night and spending your days surrounded by the awe-inspiring beauty of nature. Luckily, we have 4 great options close by: Bee Happy Family Campground, Sojourn, Cedar Park, and Lawrence Park. The latter two have fantastic fishing if you happen to be into that. With so many of you planning camping trips, I thought it would be appropriate to share some great gadgets that will help make the trip even better!

Portable stove

Looking for a wonderful alternative to fossil fuel? BioLite’s CampStove bundle provides everything you need to grill and cook some delicious meals, boil water and charge your portable devices, like say an iPhone or the GoPro you brought along to capture your canoe rides. It’s fuelled, and produces energy, using renewable biomass around the campsite, such as twigs (for example.) It’s also ridiculously light and portable – perfect to bring along on your hikes.

Smart watches

I’m not going to get into which smart watch is the best, but I will share why they can be great tools to bring along with you on your camping trip. They provide GPS functions, health monitoring and tracking. There are also a bevy of add-on applications that can provide helpful updates and reminders about everything from weather/water conditions, important news alerts and health related prompts, like taking a break and drinking some water. You may want to explore the Apple watch, or the Garmin Vivoactive watch.

Solar phone case

Your phone is more than just a vital lifeline to emergency services – it’s also a tool that can provide maps/directions and various ways to capture and document your experience; however, we all know that mobile battery capacity is a weakness. For this reason, it makes sense to consider EnerPlex’s Surfr case. It has a super thin battery that will double your phone’s current capacity, and also makes use of an attached solar panel to provide extra energy in a pinch.
