ENERGY STAR Certified – Saving Money And The Environment

Posted by on in Green Living
As of last week Sean Homes are officially ENERGY STAR version 5 certified – so not only are my homes advanced, they’re also quieter, warmer, cooler and fresher. What exactly is ENERGY STAR? It’s a symbol that identifies products that have met or exceeded Canada’s Energy Efficiency Regulations. What does using energy efficient verified products in your home mean for you and your family?

Products that have the blue symbol on them (generally) use 20-30 percent less energy than regular models, which means they cost less money to operate and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions – something I spoke about a few weeks ago. 17% of the emissions in Canada are generated from the energy consumed in the home. The energy used in the home comes from burning fossil fuels, which cause global warming. ENERGY STAR homes are responsible for annually reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2-3 tonnes. In fact, in 2011 alone, ENERGY STAR qualified products delivered 3.4 petajoules in energy savings, which is the equivalent of taking 66,000 cars off the road. Simply put, using certified products in the construction of your home is beneficial for everyone.

As you’ve been reading over the past few weeks on my blog, I’m committed to creating fresh, environmentally sound living spaces for you and your clan. This recent version 5 certification is just another example of the ways that I am working to save you money and make your life better. Be sure to register so that you can snag your invitation to our Priority Preview Event, where you’ll be able to see these smart towns for yourself.
