How the “Savings by Design” Program Benefits Homebuyers

Posted by on in Sean Homes 101
“Savings by Design” is a green building initiative introduced by Enbridge Gas Distribution. The intention of the program is to help builders like myself design and construct high-performance houses. I’m a huge fan of the program because it allows me to build homes that are green, healthy and cost-effective.  A common misconception is that new costs more. This simply isn’t true, and this program is living proof. Enbridge offers financial incentives during each stage of my process – which means I can keep my costs down and ultimately offer homebuyers a high performance home that’s affordable. Here’s a couple of ways the “Savings by Design” program benefits homebuyers:

Low Impact Housing

I’m committed to building greener homes. I think if we have the ability, then we have the responsibility to do something better. That’s the reason I turned to Enbridge’s “Savings by Design” program.  I want to make my next housing project as low impact as possible. Homes that have a low impact on the environment use fewer resources and less housing related emissions. Which, in turn produces less pollution, uses less non-renewable energy and less waste of materials. This is particularly beneficial to homebuyers because it’s more cost effective, lasts longer and uses resources we have readily available – and less of them!

High Energy Performance

Enbridge has collaborated with me to come up with a great plan for my vision in Barrie. I’ve worked with design and sustainability experts who have identified ways to maximize the energy and environmental performance of my new homes. With high efficient homes, you will see the benefits for your family, your wallet and the environment. Enhanced performance means more comfort at home, too – better air quality, reduced dust, pollen bugs and humidity. It also means lower utility bills and less impact on the environment and the community.
